Mindfulness with Miranda Lee via Zoom

Date: 05/10/2024
Time: 9:15 am-10:00 am

Mindfulness can be defined as “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the  present moment, and non-judgmentally.” In this series, mindfulness practitioner Miranda Lee will teach participants how to live a more mindful life and equip them with the tools they need to help build resilience against the challenges of day-to-day life. The class has the same structure in each session: theory, gentle movement (no special clothing or equipment required), meditation, and discussion to foster a sense of community.

This course will be offered via Zoom from 9:15-10:00 a.m. on Fridays. Anyone can join at any time.

May’s theme is Mindfulness for emotional intelligence and mood-boosting. May is Mental health awareness month, so it’s a great time to learn about emotional intelligence and how it can help us to better regulate our moods and manage our relationships.

Miranda Lee received training from Mindful Schools, a non-profit organization which trains educators to bring mindfulness into schools and community spaces. Although mindfulness is an ancient practice coming from Eastern contemplative traditions, Miranda offers a secular and inclusive approach.

Find that Pause community classes make mindfulness and emotional intelligence learning accessible with science-based research, mindful movement, and guided mindfulness practices designed to improve awareness and strengthen connection. Research shows practicing mindfulness and emotional intelligence can improve overall health, reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus, reduce biases, and improve relationships. Students learn to nurture healthy habits of empathy, compassion, resilience, and self-awareness.

In a survey, participants said the class helped them stress less, focus better, and learn how to be present in their lives. 91 % said they could deal with their emotions better, especially conflict, after the class, and 100% said they would recommend the class to others.

From a student: “I am very grateful for the weekly Mindfulness class. It has made a profound difference in my daily life and sense of self. So much that I struggle with in life, such as boundaries, self-compassion, and focus, you have guided me in how to work on these.”
